Welcome to the Cardiology Service at Eisenhower Army Medical Center, where we provide timely, safe, and effective outpatient cardiovascular care to our eligible adult beneficiaries. Our team utilizes state-of-the-art, non-invasive diagnostic and therapeutic modalities to evaluate, monitor, and manage a wide range of heart conditions. As an outpatient-focused clinic, we are committed to helping you understand and manage your heart health. For patients requiring inpatient admission or invasive procedures, our team coordinates closely with trusted partners to ensure a seamless referral to the appropriate higher level of care.

Services

The Cardiology Service provides comprehensive outpatient care across three primary areas: diagnostic testing, evaluation and consultation, and therapeutic management. We offer a complete suite of non-invasive diagnostic evaluations to assess your heart health safely. This includes routine electrocardiograms (ECG) for rhythm interpretation, along with ambulatory monitoring through Holter and event monitor placements to track heart activity over time. We also perform non-invasive stress testing modalities, such as supervised exercise and pharmacologic stress testing, to evaluate heart function under physiological activity. Additionally, our echocardiography section performs both transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiograms, utilizing non-invasive ultrasound imaging to evaluate structural integrity, valve function, and overall left ventricular systolic performance. For patients with implanted cardiac devices, we provide regular, non-invasive device interrogations to evaluate, monitor, and optimize pacemakers and other specialty cardiac systems.
Beyond general consultations, our service hosts dedicated specialty support programs to managing chronic cardiovascular conditions. This includes specialized care for congestive heart failure and left ventricular dysfunction through targeted outpatient clinical follow-ups and comprehensive chronic disease management. We also provide a dedicated Anticoagulation Clinic focused on education, regular evaluation, and precise monitoring of patients who require systemic blood thinners.
Our patient population spans a full range of adult military beneficiaries, starting with active-duty personnel during their initial induction into service as young as eighteen, all the way through individuals transitioning out of the military, retirees, and their dependents. Many of our patients present symptoms concerning coronary artery disease or peripheral vascular disease without obvious cardiovascular risk factors. We also regularly evaluate and treat a significant number of patients with established risk factors, including diabetes, hypertension, smoking history, hypercholesterolemia, and a positive family history of heart disease.
Because the Cardiology Service is a consultative specialty clinic, most of our patients are referred to us by primary care managers or other medical services. We work diligently to ensure timely access to specialty care, with a standard to schedule routine new cardiology consults within thirty days of referral when clinically appropriate. Urgent consults are triaged immediately by our clinical providers and accommodated on a case-by-case basis. Upon referral, patients sent for evaluation of ischemic heart disease or peripheral vascular conditions will generally undergo a routine electrocardiogram coupled with a detailed history and physical examination to determine the most effective, non-invasive management plan.
