Command Sergeant Major, 
CSM George L. Foster, Jr.



Command Sergeant Major Foster was born in Columbus, Georgia. He enlisted in the United States Army in 2004 and attended Basic Combat Training at Fort Benning, Georgia, followed by Advanced Individual Training at Fort Sam Houston, Texas.
 
CSM Foster's military education includes all levels of Non-Commissioned Officer Professional Development Study to include the Sergeant Major Course. He has attended numerous functional courses to include the Air Assault Course, Equal Opportunity Leader Course, Army Emergency Operations Course, Master Resilience Course, Advanced Individual Training Platoon Sergeants Course, First Sergeants Course, Combatives Level I and II Courses, Battalion Pre-Command Course, Basic Healthcare Administration Course, and AMEDD Executive Skills Course. He holds an Associate of Science in Clinical Laboratory Science from George Washington University, a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Leadership and Workforce Development from the Army Command and General Staff College and a Master of Science Degree in Organizational Leadership from Excelsior University.
 
His previous career assignments include:  Command Sergeant Major, Irwin Army Community Hospital , Fort Riley, Kansas; Command Sergeant Major, 61st Multifunctional Medical Battalion, Fort Cavazos, Texas; Brigade Operations Non Commissioned Officer in Charge, Winn Army Community Hospital, Fort Stewart, Georgia; First Sergeant for Company D “Dragons”, 232nd Medical Battalion, Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston, Texas; AIT Platoon Sergeant, Company D, 264th Medical Battalion, JBSA-Fort Sam Houston; Laboratory NCOIC, Fort Carson Medical Activity, Fort Carson, Colorado, where he deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom as the Detachment Sergeant of the 932nd Blood Support Detachment, Fort Cavazos, Texas; Platoon Sergeant, 95th BSD, Camp Humphreys, Korea; NCOIC of Blood Operations at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, Maryland with responsibility of the Blood Donor Centers at the Pentagon, the National Security Agency and the Ronald Reagan Building, Washington, DC; and NCOIC Troop Medical Clinic Laboratory, Fort Jackson, South Carolina.
 
CSM Foster’s awards include the Bronze Star Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal (four oak leaf clusters), the Army Commendation Medal (with four oak leaf clusters), the Army Achievement Medal (four oak leaf clusters), the Army Meritorious Unit Commendation, the Army Superior Unit Award, Army Good Conduct Medal (sixth award), National Defense Service Medal (with one bronze star), Afghanistan Campaign Medal (with two campaign stars), Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon (with numeral five) He has earned the Expert Field Medical Badge, the Air Assault Badge, the Gold German Armed Forces Badge for Military Proficiency, and is a recipient of the Sergeant Audie Murphy Award and Order of Military Medical Merit.
