Dermatology
The Dermatology Service is a consultative service which provides adult and pediatric dermatologic care for a wide variety of cutaneous disorders. Patients are seen on a consultative basis only, in coordination with the primary care clinics. Patients are seen as needed for follow-up, education and treatment plan stabilization before being returned to their primary care provider for continued care.
The full spectrum of cutaneous disorders are evaluated. Treatment for nearly all patients are provided in coordination with primary care managers. On routine referrals, patients are seen in the order in which their consults are received, with priority given to active duty personnel. All urgent consults are reviewed by the dermatologist and triaged to be seen within 72 hours. The dermatologist reviews phone messages from patients throughout the day and will respond to all messages as soon as possible.
There is one active duty medical ancillary support personnel. A team effort employed by all staff members allows the clinic to work efficiently. Because EAMC is a teaching facility, patients will occasionally be seen initially by students or house staff. All patients will be seen by a staff dermatologist and appropriate follow-up appointments will be made so that patient care is not compromised.
