Colonel Rose L. Freeman


Colonel Rose L. Freeman enlisted in the Army on 3 March 1993, and received training as a 76J, Medical Supply Specialist at Fort Sam Houston, Texas. She commissioned in May 2000 and previously served as Deputy Commander for Operations, Brooke Army Medical Center, San Antonio, Texas before assuming command of Dwight D. Eisenhower Army Medical Center, Fort Gordon, Georgia on 11 July 2025.

COL Freeman deployed in 1994 to Operation Uphold Democracy during her enlisted tour. Upon commissioning, she served as a Treatment and Evacuation Platoon Leader and Company Executive officer in Charlie Company, 261st Area Support Medical Battalion and as Battalion S-1, HHC, 261st Area Support Medical Battalion, 44th Medical Command. She was next assigned to the 407th Forward Support Battalion, Division Support Command, 82nd Airborne Division as the Combat Health Support Officer where she deployed to Operation Iraqi Freedom in support of the invasion of Iraq with 325th Airborne Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division. She then served as the Division Medical Planner, 82nd Airborne Division and participated in Operation All American, Hurricane Katrina. She commanded Charlie Company, 407th Brigade Support Battalion, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division and deployed her company for 15 months to Operation Iraqi Freedom 06-08. Next, she served as the Medical Planner and Executive Officer for the Directorate Chief of Staff, Surgeon’s office, United States Army Special Operations Command. After two years, she served as Brigade S-3 followed by Brigade Support Operations officer, 528th Sustainment Brigade (Special Operations) (Airborne). She next served as Deputy Surgeon, 3rd Infantry Division and subsequently as United States Forces Afghanistan Deputy Surgeon in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Freedom Sentinel. Preceding command, she served as Chief, Current Operations G-33, Health Care Operations, Office of the Surgeon General/Medical Command followed by successfully completing O-5 command of the U.S. Army Medical Health Clinic Grafenwoehr in Germany. She then served as Brigade Executive Officer, 44th Medical Brigade, where she deployed to Operation Gotham, New York City, in support of the COVID-19 national pandemic. She next served as G-3/5/7, Medical Center of Excellence at Fort Sam Houston, Texas, followed by a successful command of the 32d Hospital Center, 1MED Brigade, Fort Johnson, Louisiana. She deployed the hospital center in support of Operation Inherent Resolve, Baghdad, Iraq where she concurrently served as Joint Task Force Commander, OIR Command Surgeon, Role 3 Commander, and Senior Mission Commander, Baghdad Diplomatic Security Center.

COL Freeman is a graduate of Campbell University (B.S. Psychology, 2000), Buies Creek, North Carolina. She is a graduate of the Command and General Staff College and graduate from Air University, Air War College, Academic Year 2021 (Masters, Strategic Studies).

Colonel Freeman’s awards and decorations are commensurate with an officer of her rank and time in service. She is married to COL Lee C. Freeman. Together they have five children.
