Clinical Pastoral Education

The Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) Residency Program, under the auspices of the Department of Ministry and Pastoral Care, is accredited by the Association of Clinical Pastoral Education, Inc. Clinical Pastoral Education produces competent military chaplains for worldwide assignment in trauma and crisis ministry. The residency year encompasses four units of supervised ministry training. The educational process is one of action and reflection of theological education grounded in a person-centered approach to spiritual ministry. The military CPE Program is one of the most effective chaplain training environments for battlefield ministry. Topics include Crisis Counseling, Death and Dying, Grief Counseling, Family Systems, and Spirituality. Seminars include Interpersonal Relationship Seminars, Didactic Seminars, Pastoral Care Report Seminars, Theological Reflection Seminars, and Worship Seminars. The Individual Supervisory Hour provides one-on-one training and consultation for pastoral education.
