Health Care Administration

The Eisenhower Army Medical Center serves as a "Phase II", or residency, training site for the US Army/Baylor University Graduate Program in Healthcare Administration. After completion of one year of didactic study at Ft Sam Houston, Texas, residents are assigned to Eisenhower for 12 months of intensive one-on-one instruction while experiencing the realities of healthcare administration in an operational setting.

The goal of the program is to prepare graduates to perform independently as healthcare administrators. Training schedules are individually tailored to the specific needs of residents, based on experience and Areas of Concentration. At a minimum, residents rotate through all major functional departments of the Medical Center. Rotations in both public and private healthcare facilities in the local civilian community are also made a part of the curriculum, and are tailored to the needs of the individual resident. During the course of the year, each resident must develop and refine a Graduate Management Project Proposal, then execute and complete the approved Graduate Management Project. Each resident must also submit quarterly reports summarizing all significant activities, observations, and findings. The objectives of the residency meet the standards and guidelines set forth by The Surgeon General of the Army, Baylor University, The American College of Health Care Executives, and the Accrediting Commission on Education for Health Services Administration. Successful completion of this program merits award of the degree of Master in Health Administration (MHA) from Baylor University.
